Sacraments
BAPTISM
If you are planning to have a first child baptized, you must attend a preparation class for parents
prior to being able to confirm a date. If you have a another child and have already attended the preparation class contact the Parish office to set up a date. For more information contact the Parish
office at 916-442-2333.
Baptism of adults is handled through participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA), which
provides an ongoing process of preparation for the initiation sacrament.
FIRST RECONCILIATION/FIRST COMMUNION
The celebration of one's first reconciliation and communion are never-to-be-forgotten events. For children at St. Elizabeth's they are usually celebrated in the second grade, but more importantly, at the completion of two years of preparation. Preparation takes place during their religious education or catechism classes, so all students not attending a Catholic school should be attending such classes beginning with first grade. There is a fee for materials. Contact John Pires, Coordinator of Religious Education at 916-284-7293. For adults who are either already Catholic but have not yet received these sacraments, or adults who would like to become Catholic, contact the office at 916-442-2333.
CONFIRMATION
The sacrament of confirmation is the third of the three sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church. Students preparing for this sacrament usually receive it in the spring of the 8th grade, following two years of preparation. For children not attending a Catholic school, preparation takes place during their religious education or catechism classes. All students not attending Catholic school should be attending such classes beginning in the 7th grade. There is a fee for materials. For more information on religious education, contact John Pires, CRE 916-284-7293 . For adults who are either already Catholic, or adults who would like to become Catholic, contact the office at 916-442-2333.
